Graduation Season! (and other events for May and June!)

It's that time of the year!

The young men and women of our communities are about to embark on a new adventure. Congrats to the Class of 2015! And congrats to the kindergartners and 8th graders being promoted as well!

Here are the days and times of graduation:

Willamina High School Saturday May 23rd at 1pm. The ceremony will be held in the Glen Larkins Field, which is the football stadium behind the old high school. 266 SW Washington St, Willamina.

Sheridan High School Saturday June 6th at 2pm. The ceremony will be held in the Football Field.

House of Hope

Sheridan Japanese School  Saturday June 6th at 2pm is the High School graduation ceremony, and Wednesday, June 10th is the 8th Grade promotion, both at SJS. 

Faulconer Chapman: 8th grade promotion at 7pm, Monday, June 8th
Kindergarten promotion at 6:30pm Tuesday, June 9th

Other events in May:
Wednesday, May 6th: 
Visit your local Sheridan businesses and get in on some great deals! This Shop Sheridan First Wednesday replaces the more traditional First Wednesday events held in previous years. The goal is to promote the local business more, and get people to "Shop Local!"

Thursday May 7-9:
Mother's Day Gift Basket Raffle at Bridget's Goodie Basket, 333 S. Main St, Willamina. The store will have extended hours Thursday through Saturday, with the drawing for the gift basket at 6pm on Saturday, May 9th. Visit Bridget's Goodie Basket for locally made unique gifts, flowers, candy bouquets, candles and more!

Friday May 8th:
Kindergarten Round up at FCS.

You can choose to come from 9-10:30am or 1-2:30pm. Any child in the Sheridan Schools District who turns 5 by September 1, 2015 is encouraged to come with their parent to learn what to expect in kindergarten and to get your spot for the coming school year! Please make sure your incoming kindergartner attends as there are activities planned! 
**DON'T forget an immunization record, birth certificate, and proof of address.**

Saturday, May 9th:

May Day Coronation @ SHS. 4pm in the New Gym. Prom will be held at Zenith Vinyard from 8-11pm.

Bingo Fundraiser for the VFW. Sheridan IOOF Lodge #87, Monroe St. Doors open at 5:30pm, games start at 6:30.  Main Packet games are $10, special games are $1 each. Last game is a blackout with payout at $99. The more games sold, the more goes back to the VFW! :)

Bark Dust Sale and Rummage Sale benefiting Boy Scout Troop 215
 The Bark Dust sale starts at 9am and goes until it's gone. The Rummage sale will be from 9am-2pm. Both events are at  Faulconer-Chapman School, 332 SW Cornwall St, Sheridan.













Letter Carrier's Annual Food Drive. Leave your non perishable food donations in a box next to your mailbox, and your local carrier will pick it up for you!

Saturday, May 16th: Annual Reach the Beach Bicycle Ride. This ride goes through Sheridan and Willamina. Watch out for cyclists on 18B, and S. Bridge St!!

Tuesday, May 19th: Sheridan FFA Awards Banquet and Auction. Benefits the Sheridan FFA Chapter. Dinner starts at 6:00pm

Saturday, May 30th: The circus is coming to town!!! The circus will be at the West Valley Community Campus. Proceeds from the circus will benefit the Willamina PTSO Playground Fund.



JUNE
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL IN SHERIDAN IS JUNE 10TH.

June 11-14: Annual Sheridan Days Festival and Carnival.  For more info about the carnival and the events lined up for the festival, go to www.sheridandays.com

Saturday, June 13th: Sheridan Mud Drags

Saturday, June 27th: 90th Birthday Celebrations for Mr. William "Bill" Treadway Sr. Monroe Event Center from 1-4 pm. Mr Treadway is a beloved retired SHS teacher. The entire community is invited to attend! There will be refreshments and lots of run "Roasting" Mr Treadway. Mr. Treadway states "he will have fun "Roasting" back!

Spring Events!

Coming up next:

Sunday, March 29th

The United Methodist Church Circuit Choir presents their annual Easter Cantata, this year performing "Come Walk With Me."  Admission is free, but they will accept a free will offering of canned or boxed food that will go to Grand Sherimina Food Bank. 

Saturday, April 4th

The City of Sheridan's annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Park! Show up as early as you can, because as soon as the hunt starts it'll be over just as quick!! This year there is a section for Special Needs kids off all ages.  

After the park hunt, there is another hunt at the Sheridan Care Center at 11am.

Saturday, April 18th

This is a fun fundraiser benefiting Sheridan Athletics. Imagine that you are the horse racing, and everyone can bet on who will be winning... Fun night for all!

If drinking wine or alcohol and placing bets on people pretending to be a horse, then come to this fundraiser: 

The Sheridan Tree of Giving's Second Annual Bingo Fundraiser, with a silent auction and raffle!  Fun for the whole family, as long as your kids are well behaved that is! ;)  Blackout game is a $99 payout. You wouldn't want to miss that would you? 

This is a currently ongoing event, culminating with the drawing on the 18th. Great cause!!
